Bugs - Yummy!!

The other day as i was driving my 3 kiddos to the library a conversation of eating yucky animal parts came up. I was asked if people eat eye balls, which i replied with a yes and received a great big "GROSS!!!!!!" I was asked if some people eat brains, ears, tongs, toes (i don't think so, but you never know) blood (black blood from England (i think England)) and then bugs. Which i replied all with a "yup, some do". After totally grossing my 2 older kids out we dropped the subject and went into the library for our every two week video and book check outs.

By the time we got home it was lunch time, then the two girls took a nap. Eli was reading one of his new books on the couch and i was upstairs working on something, or maybe just laying down and being a bum can't remember ;) . About an hour or so after, Eli came up to my room knocked on the door, opened the door with a HUGE grin on his face. Here is how the conversation went:

Me: What's up bubba?
Eli: Mom (still with a huge grin) you will never ever guess what i just ate?
Me: (totally forgetting about the earlier conversation and thinking, he never get's food unless he asks me first) What?
Eli: I ate my very first bug
Me: WHAT?
Eli: Yea, it taste like chicken with salt on it. I didnt even freak out. Cool huh?
Me: No, not cool. Gross, very gross
Eli: But you said people eat bugs. I wanted to try it.
Me: (totally kicking myself right now) Yes, some people do - WE DON'T!!! EVER!!!!
Eli: Oh. Can i play WII now?
