On the 16th was Eli's official 6th birthday. He woke up with the biggest smile on his face and when i came in to get him to made sure i remembered it was his birthday.... How could we forget :) One of his gifts from us was a bible. Single column, big print - perfect for him. So right after a *ummm, a very boring breakfast :(* we got dressed and headed out to the Christian book store to have his name put on it - just like his dad has on his. After that, we made our way over to Toys R Us, cause let's face it - its always fun to pick out something you have really wanted then to just hope you get it :) We walked through isle after isle looking for "Something Awesome" that he couldnt live with out...... Finally after walking through the baby isle with Cora and then making our way into the "BIG BOY" section we found him and his daddy looking at remote control planes. Eli was trying to pick between 3 or 4 of them. He choose one - a red one (picture down below). He was very excited.......
Then it was lunch time. There is this restaurant called Donnie Mac's Trailer Park Cusine down town. We have been there a hand full of times and get a kick out of the look, not to mention the food.
We have officially met Donnie Mac himself.......... going off track a bit, bear with me . A few years ago when Gabe's parents came up for Eli's 4th birthday we took them to Donnie' Mac's, Gabe's mom loved it so much that she tried to make off with one of their menus. Upon stuffing the HUGE menu into her HUGE bag, a man came up to ask how our food was. He introduced himsself as Donnald the "Owner" of the establishment. Well, if you new Nana at all - she did not get embarrassed easily and simply told Donnald that she loved his restaurant and that she wanted one of the menus. He told her that she couldnt have that one (it was laminated) but he had some in the back that wearnt and went back and got her one........ It was hilarous.....
Ok , back to Eli's special day..... There is an old beat up vw bug inside that they have gutted out and made into a booth. Everytime we have gone there Eli has mentioned how cool it would be to eat in the "car". Well, they don't take reservations for it - its first come first serve.... So when i told Gabe and we should go and see if its available i was hoping and praying (i know silly to pray over) that it would be available for this special 6 year old. When we arrived there was hardly anyone there. We walked in and it was empty. I told the waitress that it was Eli's birthday and he would love to eat in the car - so she showed us the way. It was cramped, a bit dirty and the benches didnt reach the table - but Eli loved it and so we were happy.
Check out the flamingos :)

Gabe and Eli - he had to sit on his knee's to eat, but he didnt care cause it was "AWESOME!"

Our sweet and wonderful 6 year old

After asking Cora if she thought this was "AWESOME!" She replied with a big "OH YEAH!"

What makes this place .... trailer trash.... besides the car inside, the side of a trailer on the outside, the fact that all of the benches are old car seats on wheeles and that there is a shower curtain at every booth - is the food.. You can "no joke" get a can of spaghettio's on a plate. If you go for breakfast you can get pop tarts and eggo wallfels.
Eli was a very happy "camper" :)

This is our view from the car - this doesnt even do it justice

and instead of ice cream they make the worlds BEST custard, Eli got a custard sundae on the house... It was so very very yummy...

Looks comfy huh???? :)

The bug in all its glory - panda bear, christmas lights, canoe and old wooden skies to top it off. Did i mention that the place used to be an old car mechanic shop - the bug is on a lift that they left and the whole front of the restaurant opens up.

Then we went home, Cora was whinney and needed a nap desperatly, i was achy and needed a nap desperatly. So Eli and Gabe decided to open up his plane and fly it around.

Here they are getting ready to launch.

Eli has such a sweet heart and our hope is that God uses that for His Glory....
Happy 6th Birthday Bubba Boy
