Happy Birthday Nana

Last week was Nana's (Gabe's mom) birthday. She passed away a year ago this past May. Last year on her birthday Eli made a card for her and we made a cake - no questions asked. This year when i told Eli that we can make cupcakes for Nana's birthday he looked at me with a confused look on his face and reminded me that Nana was in heaven and doesn't eat cupcakes. I told him yes, i know but we can still make them for her. He then felt like he needed to remind me this time that she died and was in heaven. I told him i knew that and so we wouldnt have to take this conversation any further asked him if he just wanted to make cupcakes with me.. He then said sure and that was the end of the conversation. I have no idea if we will continue this next year or not, but at least i know that he understands that Nana is in heaven and was informed that she does not get cupcakes for her birthday..............
