Charlet June Heter was born on Money August 17th at 2:28pm. She weighed 7lbs 2.5oz and was 21 inches long. She had lots of dark brown hair and big dark blue eyes.
This was my first time going into natural labor - which is ironic since this is was my third pregnancy. So alot of first came with bringing this little wonder into our lives. I started having contractions Saturday evening but didnt think anything of it. Then once Sunday morning came they were stronger but were further apart so again i just ignored them. All through Sunday they would come and go, some stronger then the others so i decided i was just going to hold out and call my doctor Monday morning. We went and had dinner at my parents house to see my Aunt and cousin who were visiting from CA and on our way back home they were really strong and almost exactly 5 min's apart. It was the strangest feeling ever. They werent painful, kind of exciting really. I decided to wait a bit longer to see if they were consistent *which they were* then got some pushes from mom, sister, my cousin and a friend to go ahead and call the hospital and let them know what's going on - plus the baby was still breech and if my water were to break they would have to do a c-section. So i called *it was 10pm* told them about her being breech and they told me to come on in.
I arrive to find out that i am 2 cm dialated and that's it. The baby was so high up that they couldnt feel her at all, so they decided to do a ultra sound - which i am never opposed to :). The moment they went to find out where her head was she started moving down wards (PRAISE THE LORD!!!!). So now her head was down and to make sure that she wouldnt turn back, they addmited me and broke my water. I was due for an inducement on the 20th which would of put me a day before my 39th week, so this was a bit of a surprise. The contractions were alot stronger at this point but not very regular.
They waited till 5am to start me on pitocin, in the mean time they had a hard time keeping a monitor on her so someone got the genius idea *the doc* to try and PROBE her... if you have never had this done - well, its not fun by any means - i will spare you the details of all that is involved with the PROBE , i am sure you can use your imagination... Anyhow moving on... After they tried and failed 3 times to get her heart beat they decided to try on the outside again and TAH DAH!! there she was.
Then violation after violation later i had to tell the nurse that i couldnt take it anymore and then she asked me the most wonderful question - the question that i will NEVER ever refuse and despite my constant back pain after i have the baby i will always, always say "YES PLEASE" she asked me if i wanted my epideral. Of course she had to check me to see where i was - a stinken 4 cm but apparently that is enough for the wonderfulness of the pain release. If it werent for all the "checks" i am sure i could of gone alot longer, but oh well ;). Epideral and no pain later i was sayin "Bring on the check's people". So they did :(. I finally hit a 5 - wow..... and as my brother in law puts it "I thought you were gonna be in their all week" (thanks Bret ;) Seriously, i was a 5 forever, then a 5 1/2 forever... Gee Whiz, this girl did not want to come out. The nurse did another ultra sound and no joke - it looked like she was holding on to her embilical cord for dear life. But as time went on......... i finally hit a 10 *WOO HOO* and before it knew it i was told to bear down and PUSH... 3 pushes later, and some serious blood vesel burst and she was out - long, head full of hair, crying and covered in that white stuff... I cuddled her and talked to her for a bit, then they went to clean her off and get her warm. Her temp was down so they kept her under the warmer for a while. In the mean time, they checked to make sure she was all there ;) weighed her, measured her and Gabe got to put on her first diaper. They then brought her over to me and i snuggled my knew little one and nursed her - which she got the hang of right away - that a girl..
Over all it was a horrible and tiring experience that i have quickly put out of my mind and knowing that God is the creater of life and that He chose to give us Charlet to raise and to teach and to love - knowing that she so far complete's our family of 5 is worth doing over and over again. Thank you Lord for this wonderful little girl, for your perfect timing and for your never ending love for us.
Now for some pictures :)
